Here is tonight’s supermarket wine:

No high hopes for this one because it’s just a regular appellation Bordeaux controllee. It’s from Sauveterre de Guyenne, 12% and the mix is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

Here’s the website. Rather oddly the website suggests: “Ce Bordeaux traditionnel se boit facilement et plait aux jeunes et aux femmes tant à table qu’à l’apéritif”.

This is a very easy drinking wine. Very smooth and fresh, it has the quality of a much more expensive wine with good colour and a clear meniscus. It’s good to drink on its own or with snacks but not really up to a dinner accompaniment.
