Eymet is well worth a visit. A favourite with British visitors since the advent of “Dordogneshire” in the 1950s it nonetheless retains its French character, but in a way that is welcoming for tourists. You’ll hear lots of English voices in the bars and restaurants in and around the attractive square in the centre of this Bastide.
For an experience of a beautiful and very well preserved historic village, I recommend combining a visit to Eymet with a stop at Issigéac (21km away) where you can get some superb photos of a classic, traditional French village, a location for many period feature films. In 2017 it has the honour of a départ in the Tour de France on 12 July.
