Vinci Autoroutes, who operate the A89 from Bordeaux to Brive, have announced roadworks which will involve the closure of exit 12 of the A89 (Montpon-Ménésterol), which is the one that we take to get to the house when driving from Bordeaux.

They are spending 8 million euros to resurface 50km of the autoroute between Mussidan Est (exit 13.1) and Libourne Nord (exit 10). The work will affect both directions from this Sunday (1 April) until 6 July.

There will be lane closures throughout the works. Importantly, the work will necessitate a diversion from the autoroute between junctions 13 (Mussidan Sud) and 11 (Coutras) from Monday to Friday, day and night.

As a result, junction 12 (Montpon), closures will operate including the exit in the direction from Brive and the entrance in both directions. Diversions will be signposted.

The upshot is that if you are travelling from Bordeaux, you should leave the autoroute at junction 11 (Coutras). Follow this route:
