Excellent news! Le Petit Gurson in Saint-Martin-de-Gurson is reopening in July. It’s next to the mairie in the centre of the village, about 400 metres from the house.

It’s undergoing a comprehensive make-over. I noticed some work going on when I visited a couple of weeks ago and took the chance to speak with the builders on site. After a little chat in French it turned out that the boss on site was English so we got a good insight into what is being planned.

The interior has been gutted, including removal of the bar, the pool room and the toilets. The priority will be the restaurant, but there will be a bar at the front with TV sport for the big events.

There will be a shaded terrace and a pizzeria, including take-aways.

I think that he said that there will also be a patisserie!

The village has undergone a transformation in the last couple of years and once the bar is open it will be the perfect complement to the house.
