Here’s a quick update with some news about what I’ve discovered this weekend.
Le Petit Gurson
The bar is still not open but there are signs of life. It’s been tidied up inside and, significantly, the back door was open so it’s reasonable to assume that something’s happening.
Elsewhere in the village the “shop that sells everything” is still open but up for sale.
It seems that there are issues with the new green bin collections. I’ve photoed a message from the Mairie’s noticeboard which I’ll post and translate shortly.
Further afield, Harveys in Montcaret appears to be closed and there is a “For Sale” sign outside.
Villefranche de Lonchat
The village appears to be thriving with “L’Un des Sens” and “La Cave des Chevaliers” open. When I get home I’ll post pictures of both including the former’s menu for 2016.
The Friday evening events at Villefranche are on again throughout the summer (see below).
The Lac is looking great with swimming allowed and the lifeguard on duty. Food is still available from L’Oasis and I’ll post the menu when I get back.
I couldn’t see any sign of Maggy Taxi but the alternative is Taxi Celine (based at Lamothe-Montravel) on 06 99 72 39 23.
Ste Foy
There is a big street market on the third Sunday of every month (presumably in addition to the weekly Saturday markets).

St Emilion
While there are closures elsewhere St Emilion is unsurprisingly thriving with several interesting new bars and restaurants in the south of the village.
Of particular interest is the launch of a new electric Tuk Tuk service which looks great. They’re really cool and you get a guided tour in English from the driver.
The house
Everything seems to be working(!).
The hedges have been massively pruned and it’s a great improvement. It must have been a huge job! I’ll post lots of photos when I get back.
It seems that our neighbours with the “lion dogs” have gone on an extended break or perhaps have gone altogether because it looks completely closed up with nothing at all left outside.
The Cristaline factory has been inactive with no passing lorries but that’s probably down to the time of year.
