Jet2.com have taken advantage of the facilities at the brand new Brive airport by adding summer flights from Manchester.
The official name of the airport is Aéroport de Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne and Jet2 are calling the destination Dordogne Valley. What matters from our point of view is that it is MUCH quicker than Limoges because it’s more or less straight down the A 89:

Outward flights depart Manchester at 14:15 Tuesday and 15:55 Saturday and return 17:45 Tuesday and 19:25 Saturday so the obvious option for weekend trips is to go on Saturday and return Tuesday.
Car rental is available from Avis, Europcar, National and Hertz.
When you add the options for Bergerac (Ryanair) and Bordeaux (bmibaby) this means that you can travel to the house more or less any day of the week and long weekend visits are much more manageable.
