For those of you who like to keep fit or, like me, like a leisurely walk

While I’m thinking of an all butter croissant and French coffee, I’m aware that others like a run in the morning!

There’s a really good route to try in Saint-Martin which is mainly off road. Basically, it’s half of a randonnée (cycle route) which starts in the centre of the village (9.6km). The recommended route is about a third of that, as you can see from this map:

Head off by turning left out of the front gate at le Lac (on the map). Continue past the Source Cristaline factory and the turn right. Go past the back of the factory and then carry on down the very quiet road until you see a right turn on to the public footpath. Follow the path (as shown on the map). You can then either take the right turn up the road back to the house (the white road shown on the map) or continue on the yellow path up to the village.

If you want to do the full route, you can start at the village and do the full 9.6 m tour. There is a map on the notice board in front of the church.

Other options include walking round the Lac de Gurson (about 45 minutes) or to do the alternative route (Boucle du lac de Gurson) but you’ll need someone to pick you up at the end!
